What and Why GPT ? GPT was initiated as a part of UEFI ; which the latest system posses.It was implemented as to avoid the MBR-Master Boot Record which nowadays system uses. You can see whether your system supports UEFI in the BIOS settings - Boot options. Mainly there will be two options like Legacy and UEFI.Suppose if you want to boot some USB /DVD drive then you have to select Legacy option. How to resolve the error " Unable to install windows 7 / 8 in GPT Drive " ? Put a Windows XP CD /DVD and boot up to the Formatting part .Then delete all the partitions and make a new one and using the format NTFS.Please don't proceed further after the formatting to the installation. Now restart and install Win 7 or 8. Why GPT? It provide more flexibility in the partitioning of the drives.Before the GPT we used the MBR - Master boot record, which has many limitation in the drive partitioning. Guys, This one post will tell you how to get in to the VAIO F Series BIOS settings.Usually F series comes with win 8 inbuilt.Since the Win 8 is integrated in the system ans for the fast booting, we wont be able to get in to the BIOS by using conventional functional keys(F1-F12) and also the Del , End keys wont help.This is how you want to do it. Switch off your Laptop Press the Assist button placed at the top right corner near the power button. Wait for some seconds and you will get a menu. In that menu you will be able to select BIOS settings or Boot Settings and Backup options. Best of luck !

Splash menu....? This is the menu which comes first when u stat your system ,and this allows you to select the os. Now you can change the back ground of this screen to a picture or anything you want.. For that u need to install grub2splash images.. Now open the terminal and type sudo apt-get install grub2-splashimages GRUB spalsh images are stored in the /usr/share/images/grub folder, you can access it with this command: sudo nautilus /usr/share/images/grub Yup can have any image of your own for one condition that it should be TGA format  edit now the /etc/default/grub file with this command: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub At the end of the file, add this line: GRUB_BACKGROUND=/usr/share/images/grub/YOUR-IMAGE.tga Replace YOUR-IMAGE.tga with your custom image name. When you finish, press CTRL+Q and save your file. Run now this command: sudo update-grub Restart now your computer to see if changes are successful ...

Usually windows will take 30 seconds to 2 mins to shutdown the system .. Here is a tip that will give us the power to shutdown immediate a windows system . “ Just like switching off a bulb ” To do this , open the task mananger by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL . TaskManager Then Click on the shutdown menu .. after that click on the Turn Off Menu By Pressing Ctrl Button , then click .. ShutDown Menu - Taskmanager You can see that the system will turn off immediately… when u switch on the pc you will find that there is not scandisk , or any checks comming up .. .I am oing this .. and found no probs ..
